How to protect yourself from mosquito bites outdoors and at home: effective tips
Mosquito bites can be an annoying and potentially dangerous nuisance. These tiny insects can cause discomfort and transmit diseases such as malaria, dengue fever, and the Zika virus. UAportal has prepared recommendations to help protect yourself from insect bites.
First of all, it is very important to reduce the number of mosquito breeding grounds around your home. Mosquitoes lay their eggs in stagnant water, so eliminating the source of stagnant water is key. Empty any containers that accumulate water, such as flower pots, buckets, and birdbaths.

Clean and maintain swimming pools regularly and make sure they are properly chlorinated. By reducing the number of mosquito breeding grounds, you can significantly reduce the mosquito population in your neighborhood.
Mosquitoes are attracted to dark colors, so choose light-colored clothing, preferably long sleeves and pants. In addition, treat your clothes with insect repellent or purchase pre-treated clothing with protective properties. These measures create a physical barrier between you and mosquitoes, reducing the likelihood of being bitten.
Using insect repellents is another effective strategy to protect yourself from mosquitoes. Look for repellents that contain DEET, picaridin, or lemon eucalyptus oil, as these are the most effective ingredients. Apply the repellent to exposed areas of skin, following the instructions on the product label.

Remember to reapply the product, especially if you sweat or stay outdoors for a long time. Avoid applying the repellent to damaged or irritated skin and keep it away from your eyes and mouth.
Mosquitoes are most active at dawn and dusk, so it is recommended to limit the time spent outdoors during this period. If you need to be outside, use mosquito nets or screens to create a physical barrier between you and the insects.
Mosquito nets can be used over beds or resting areas, and screens can be installed on windows and doors to keep mosquitoes from entering your home.
