A wooden ship from the Roman Empire found in Serbia: it is impressive in size

In Serbia, a group of miners were working in a large coal mine when suddenly their excavator hit a wooden ship. Scientists were immediately called to the site and discovered that this region was once home to the Roman settlement of Viminacium.

According to Reuters, according to research, this wooden ship, 13 meters long, could have been part of the former Roman river fleet that served a large and developed Roman city with a population of 45 thousand inhabitants.

Two other Roman ships and three canoes have been found at this coal quarry before. However, the research of the Viminacium settlement has been going on for more than a century, and, according to archaeologists, only 5% of the territory covering 450 hectares has been explored so far.
