The fall season brings many important garden tasks. However, some plants should not be planted in the fall, due to poor frost resistance.

Experts have revealed which plants may not develop if planted in the fall. This is reported by Express.co.uk.

In particular, most hydrangeas are resistant to cold weather, but it is advisable to postpone planting until spring. When preparing the planting hole, it is better to prioritize width over depth, as these plants prefer to extend their roots horizontally rather than vertically.

Trees like cherry laurel and boxwood lack natural defenses against excessive water loss and dehydration. They cannot control the rate of evaporation during the winter months.

Rhododendron plants are more susceptible to cold because of shallow roots below the surface, so they should be planted in late spring, which also reduces the risk of desiccation from frost.

Fruit trees growing in warmer climates remain very vulnerable to frost in the early stages of growth. This fact makes spring planting a more favorable option.
