New species of bull sharks found off the coast of Australia (photo)

A new species of bull shark has been spotted off the coast of Australia. It was named Heterodontus marshallae (painted horn shark).

According to Reefbuilders, this species of shark is smaller (up to 60 cm) and slower than others and tends to stay in deeper water. There they feed on sea urchins, crabs, shrimps and shellfish.

The researchers found six adult Heterodontus marshallae and one egg. It is believed that these sharks belong to a species of multi-tooth sharks that appeared in the Jurassic period, which is about 175 million years ago.

As a reminder, Australian residents and tourists are advised to stay as far away from the ocean as possible. Sharks have started to hunt vacationers and surfers on a massive scale.
