The source of the smell can also be an incorrect connection of the sewerage system, a water valve failure, a breakthrough or leakage from the pipes. In these situations, you should call a qualified plumber who can identify and fix the problem in time.

Nevertheless, there are also cases where minor faults can be fixed on your own. The problem may be caused by improper installation of the siphon or dirt accumulation in it. Sometimes there is not enough water in the trap if you have not used the drain for a long time.

To solve such problems, you can try the following methods:

  • Mechanical cleaning of the clogged siphon.
  • Use of chemical or folk remedies. For example, pour four tablespoons of baking soda into the drain and fill it with hot water.
