How to easily get rid of the musty smell from clothing

A musty smell from clothes often occurs when moisture remains after drying. Therefore, clothes will continue to smell musty until they are washed again.

Even then, however, they may still have a musty smell, so it's important to take action as soon as possible to eliminate the odor. This is reported by Express.co.uk.

Getting rid of the musty smell of clothes is easy. First, wash the clothes, but add a cup of white vinegar to the detergent or powder for each load of laundry in the washing machine drum.

Vinegar is a disinfectant that helps eliminate odors. Alternatively, you can add a little fabric softener.

If you notice signs of mold on the fabric, it is best to wash the clothes at a higher temperature as soon as possible. To prevent the odor of dampness from reappearing, you should wash wet or sweaty clothes as soon as possible. This is also a great way to prevent sweat stains from building up.

It is always important to hang clean laundry to dry or put it in the tumble dryer as soon as the washing machine finishes. Leaving damp clothes in the machine can cause a musty odor inside.

Finally, make sure that the clothes are completely dry before putting them in a drawer or closet so that moisture does not get into the fabric.

If the washing machine smells, fill it with hot water and run it without clothes. It is also advisable to keep the washing machine door open when not in use to avoid dampness.

As a reminder, we have already written why you should not wash at 30 degrees.
