In Queensburg, South Africa, an incredible fight between two huge and dangerous black mambas took place in a private yard. Both snakes, which were more than 2.4 meters long, were captured on video during this fierce fight.

The footage, which was uploaded by snake rescuer Nick Evans to Facebook, shows the pair of mambas struggling for almost half an hour, trying to bring each other to the ground. The larger snake, 2.6 meters long, was trying to pinch the neck of the smaller snake, 2.5 meters long. According to Evans, this episode repeated itself three times before the smaller snake walked away, expressing submission.

These black mambas, known for their danger, met because of the mating season, probably due to a conflict over a female. According to John Dunbar, an expert at the Irish Research Council's Venom Systems Laboratory at Galway University, male mambas do not bite each other, but fight until one of them gives in.

The black mamba is known for its infamous reputation as one of the most dangerous venomous snakes on the planet. Their venom attacks the victim's nervous system and muscles, and can paralyze and even kill a person in just 20 minutes. However, Dunbar's experiments have shown that these snakes are quite "shy" and will only attack if threatened or afraid.

Dunbar also explained that the battle between mambas often takes place in the presence of females. The snakes braid their bodies around each other in an attempt to dominate and gain the female's approval. This fighting ritual is a demonstration of physical strength and endurance.

Black mamba snakes are also immune to the venom of their species. This allows them to mate and feed without the risk of poisoning. However, they can be vulnerable to their own venom in some cases, especially at high doses.

As a reminder, researchers have found that a particular species of snake uses a strange escape technique when in danger. In particular, the dwarf reed snake speeds up its escape by "turning" into a wheel.
