Blueberries contain calcium, potassium, iron, phosphorus, magnesium, zinc, copper, sodium, manganese, and selenium.

Lipids are also found in the berry in the form of saturated fatty acids, which are an important source of energy, contribute to the synthesis of cholesterol and better absorption of vitamins and minerals.

Blueberries are good for the heart and blood vessels, help to normalize digestion, strengthen the immune system, help maintain visual acuity, and protect the eyes from certain diseases. It is also used for pancreatitis, gastritis, hemorrhoids, and cholecystitis.

In addition to being rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, blueberries should not be consumed in large quantities.

The daily allowance for blueberry consumption is one glass (200 g). Excessive consumption of blueberries can lead to problems such as

  • diarrhea
  • bloating
  • abdominal pain
  • nausea
  • vomiting
  • headache
  • insomnia
  • nervousness
  • irritability

If you experience any of these symptoms after eating blueberries, you should stop eating them and consult a doctor.

Contraindications to the use of blueberries

Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult a doctor before consuming blueberries. People with biliary dyskinesia and cardiovascular diseases that are associated with a risk of blood clots should limit their consumption of blueberries.

People with individual intolerance to blueberries should also avoid excessive consumption.

How and in what quantities can you eat blueberries

The daily intake of blueberries is one to two glasses. If you exceed the recommended portion, blueberries can be harmful.

The best time to eat blueberries is in the morning, because it is at this time that the body urgently needs glycogen, which ensures the normal functioning of the brain. Blueberries can be consumed as a standalone product or in combination with other foods and ingredients in various dishes.
