Ministry of Defence explains who can talk about the Armed Forces' counter-offensive

The Ukrainian Armed Forces are to launch a full-scale counter-offensive in the near future. Deputy Minister of Defence Hanna Malyar explained that only three people can provide information about the offensive.

These are President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Defence Minister Oleksiy Reznikov and Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Valeriy Zaluzhnyi. Malyar said this during the telethon.

"Modern warfare is primarily an information war. And we must be prepared for any information injection, any information and psychological operations. Therefore, any information should be treated critically, checked, and the source should be sought," she said.

The deputy head of the Ministry of Defence added that only official sources can provide true data on the course of hostilities and the plans of the Armed Forces. She also explained why some information is not made public.

"As for the plans of the Armed Forces, you need to understand that they are kept secret. Therefore, any discussion of these plans should be understood to be based on someone's assumptions. Only three people can speak officially about this, if it is about a counter-offensive: the President, the Minister of Defence and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. Everyone else quotes them," Malyar said.

Recall that the head of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, announced a major counter-offensive in the spring of 2023.
