During excavations near the Western Wall in Jerusalem, archaeologists made a sensational discovery: an ancient seal depicting a winged figure dating back to the 7th century BC. This artifact is one of the most beautiful and interesting ever found in the region.

The seal is made of black stone and has a hole for a lace, indicating that it was worn around the neck as an amulet. One side depicts a winged figure wearing a long striped shirt. Scientists believe that this is an image of a demon that was supposed to protect its owner from evil forces, Newsweek writes.

Similar images were common in Neo-Assyrian art and were considered powerful amulets, called the "genie's seal".

The inscription on the seal is in Paleo-Hebrew and indicates that its owner was a man named Jehoiakim, son of Hoshayahu. Researchers assume that this man held a high position in the administration of the Kingdom of Judah.

This find is of great importance for understanding the history and culture of ancient Israel. It shows the influence of Assyrian culture on Jewish culture, as well as the religious beliefs of the people of that time. In addition, the seal is a vivid example of the high level of skill of Jewish jewelers.

As a reminder, a 7,600-year-old child's skeleton was found in Turkey with a silver jewelry piece lying next to it.
