People usually know which animals are dangerous in the world. But when it comes to birds, it is difficult to immediately determine which ones can pose a threat.

That 's why IFL Science has revealed which bird is considered the most dangerous. It turned out to be the southern cassowary.

Its height reaches 2 meters, and its weight can reach 76 kilograms. This bird can cause fear even before you take a closer look at its appearance.

The Southern Casuarina is distinguished by its bright, shiny feathers and a strange tall brown helmet on its head, but this is probably the only nice thing that can be said about it. It is also called a "living dinosaur" because it has huge and sharp claws on its paws that look quite formidable.

According to the publication, casuars are capable of killing people and have already done so. For example, in 2019, a domesticated casuarina caused the death of a person. The last recorded case of a wild casuarina killing a person happened almost a century ago: the bird clawed an artery in the neck of a 16-year-old boy from Queensland, Australia.

"We do not recommend approaching these birds - although attacks are rare, if you are in the wrong place, it can kill you. "The 'wrong place' usually means that the casuarina is waiting for food or that you are too close to it, its nest, or its young," the article says.

There is another reason to avoid contact with casuarinas. The Australian government believes that this species is on the verge of extinction. There are only about 4,000 adults left in the wild, and more frequent encounters with people can lead to their habituation, which will pose an even greater threat to humans.
