From May 1, some Ukrainians may lose their subsidy: who will be deprived of social assistance
Currently, about 3 million Ukrainian families receive state subsidies to pay for communal services. This social assistance allows many families to ensure their survival, especially in the conditions of war.
However, with the arrival of the warm season, it appears that many families may lose this support. The reason is that in the summer utility costs are reduced, because heating is not used, and its cost is about 80% of the total amount of utility payments.

The Ministry of Social Policy reminds us that for most families, subsidies for the next period, from May 1, 2023, to April 30, 2024, will be revised automatically.
However, this also means that in the summer many Ukrainian families may be left without state support due to lower utility costs. According to the rules, if utility payments do not exceed 20% of the total family income, the subsidy is not provided.
There are several reasons why families may lose subsidies:
- Debt from utility payments for a long period, three months or more. If the amount of the debt exceeds 680 hryvnias, the subsidy may be terminated.
- Purchase of goods in the amount of more than 50 thousand hryvnias by members of the household.
- Increase in family income.
- Detection of inaccurate information about the financial and property status of the family when assigning a subsidy.
We will remind you that earlier the pension fund named the categories of Ukrainians who can receive a subsidy even without meeting one of the conditions.
