Boiler expert names the ideal temperature for heating to prevent pipes from freezing
With the onset of cold weather, Ukrainians turn on the heating or consider leaving it at a low level. The expert shared the ideal room temperature in winter to prevent pipes from freezing.
The ideal room temperature in winter is between 18°C and 20°C. During the winter months, you may be tempted to turn up the thermostat, according to Express.co.uk.
Experts advise that instead of setting one temperature for the whole day, try switching between day and night temperatures. This can make the temperature at home more comfortable and also reduce energy consumption.
It is a myth that if the heating is always on, it will help save money on electricity bills. This is not true as the boiler will constantly consume energy, experts warn.
It is much more energy efficient and cheaper to set the boiler to run only when you need warm water or heating and to adjust the thermostat to the temperature you want your home to be at.
Constantly burning fuel to heat your home will not only increase energy consumption but also increase losses. At the same time, according to the expert, it is usually recommended to keep the thermostat temperature at least at 10 degrees to avoid the risk of pipes freezing.
