A miracle of nature or reincarnation: a girl with a genetic abnormality was born in India and is considered a goddess

A girl with 14 fingers and 12 toes was born in the northern state of Rajasthan, in the city of Bharatpur. Her parents are convinced that this is not an accident, but the reincarnation of the multi-armed Hindu goddess Dhologarh Devi, whose temple is located near the child's birthplace.

The girl has seven fingers on each hand and six on each foot. Local residents, along with her happy parents, consider her birth a "divine miracle" and do not take medical explanations into account.

"Having 26 fingers is not a health hazard, although it is a genetic anomaly. Otherwise, the child is absolutely healthy," explained Dr. Soni from the hospital where the girl was born.

According to doctors at Great Ormond Street Hospital, such a genetic anomaly as polydactyly is quite common. Doctors note that if one of the parents has an extra finger on the hand or foot, there is a 50% chance that the children will also have this feature.

The child's uncle told reporters that the whole family, including 25-year-old mother Sarja Devi and father Gopal Bhattacharya, who works in the police, are incredibly happy.

The family has not yet disclosed whether they intend to undergo surgery to remove the extra fingers.
