Limescale that forms in pipes comes from hard water. As it flows through your pipes, limescale settles on the walls. Over time, these deposits harden to form a blockage. Consequently, water becomes difficult to pass through, and your pipes become clogged.

How to clean pipes clogged with limescale

Cleaning the sewer system is not that difficult. The first step is to identify the source of the problem and then proceed to the solution. Read below for some tips on how to deal with limescale and unclog pipes:

1. Descale the pipes with hot water. If your drain is clogged, your first step is to pour boiling water down it. Sometimes this can be enough to unclog your pipes.

  • Boil the water on the stove or heat it with a kettle.
  • Pour the boiling water directly down the sink drain.
  • Run the faucet to see if the water flows smoothly.
  • If not, repeat the process.

Important! If your drainage pipe is connected to PVC pipes, do not use this trick. Boiling water can damage and melt the plastic.
