The fight against car theft sometimes requires unconventional approaches. Designer Michael Dunbar from the UK decided to implement an original idea that makes his car less attractive to thieves.

He turned to the specialists at Clyde's Raps in Glasgow to cover his Volkswagen Transporter with a unique paint that imitates rusty metal. This story was written by core77.com.

The work of the specialists was aimed at making the car so unattractive that even the most desperate thief would not be interested in its appearance. The paint applied to the car looks like real rust covering the doors, handles, mirrors and other body elements. The look is completed with fake metal panels that add authenticity to the "rusty" decor.

The entire van transformation process involved precise measurements, design illustration, and printing on special vinyl followed by matte lamination to further mute the colors. The result exceeded expectations: the vehicle really stands out in the crowd, not because of its attractiveness, but because of its unusual appearance.

Shortly after the work was completed, the owner of the car reported that the police stopped him only three days later to find out what was happening to the "rusty" vehicle. This proves that the design move really works, because this kind of van can be an effective defense against hijackers.

Although this individual project required additional design costs, the result was worth the effort. Now the owner can leave his car in the parking lot with confidence, knowing that its rusty appearance is unlikely to attract the attention of thieves.
