Learn life hacks that will help your washing machine always smell fresh. UAportal has prepared simple and effective methods using common household ingredients.

Baking soda and vinegar

Pour one cup of baking soda into the drum of the machine, and then pour two cups of white vinegar into the detergent dispenser. By running a hot wash cycle, the baking soda and vinegar will effectively remove any lingering odors. After the cycle is complete, leave the door open for a while to ventilate the washing machine.

Lemon juice and hot water

You can start by filling the detergent dispenser with a cup of lemon juice and then run a hot wash cycle to allow any residual odors to be broken down. The acidity of the lemon juice neutralizes and eliminates any unpleasant odors. After the cycle is complete, it is recommended to wipe the rubber gasket and leave the door ajar to ventilate the machine.

Regular cleaning and maintenance

It is very important to clean the drum, detergent dispenser and rubber gasket regularly to ensure that no residue or moisture remains on them. Leaving the door ajar between washes allows air to circulate, preventing the formation of mold and unpleasant odors. It is also recommended to run a cleaning cycle once a month with a specialized detergent for washing machines, following the manufacturer's instructions.

Earlier, we wrote about the washing machine mode that is better not to use so that things do not remain dirty after washing.
