A quick way to learn how to eat with chopsticks: 5 tips
Chopsticks are one of the oldest and most commonly used items in Eastern cultures, but they can be intimidating to those who are not used to them. Fortunately, with the right tips and tricks, anyone can learn to use chopsticks like a pro.
The first step is to understand the basics of chopsticks. Hold one chopstick between your thumb and forefinger, resting it on the base of your middle finger. Then grasp the chopstick with your ring finger.
The other stick should be between your thumb and forefinger, held firmly by the second knuckle. This will allow you to move both chopsticks at the same time while gripping the food.
Tip 1
Start slowly by practising without food. Just hold the chopsticks in this position until you get comfortable with them.

Tip 2
Many experts recommend using a three-finger grip instead of two. This provides more stability and control over the movement of the chopsticks.
Tip 3
When trying to pick up foods such as noodles or rice grains, squeeze gently to prevent them from breaking apart.
Tip 4
If you find slippery foods such as sushi or fish difficult to grip, try the "flicking" technique - gently wiggle your wrist back and forth while squeezing it with your thumbs. This will give you enough momentum to grab slippery objects quickly and efficiently!
Tip 5
To avoid spilling soup or broth from a bowl, lean slightly forward while holding the bowl close to your face. This will allow you to better control where the liquid goes when you scoop food with chopsticks.
