The hot summer heat can be unbearable, especially if you don't have air conditioning. However, there are ways to keep cool and comfortable even without an air conditioning system. UAportal has prepared useful tips to help you stay cool on hot summer days.

First, focus on keeping your living space as cool as possible. Start by closing your curtains or blinds during the day to block out the sun's heat.

This simple step can significantly reduce the temperature inside your home. Open windows early in the morning or late in the evening when the air outside is cooler. Create a cross-breeze by strategically placing fans in different parts of the house to promote air circulation.

Take cool showers or baths throughout the day to refresh yourself and lower your body temperature. Choose lightweight clothing made from natural fabrics such as cotton or linen.

Avoid synthetic materials because they can trap heat and make you feel even hotter. Keep a spray bottle filled with cold water nearby to spray yourself periodically. This will bring instant relief.

Drink plenty of water throughout the day, even if you don't feel particularly thirsty. Avoid excessive consumption of caffeine and alcohol, as they can contribute to dehydration. Choose chilled drinks or make refreshing water with fruit additives to make hydration more enjoyable. Eating foods with a high water content, such as watermelon, cucumber and citrus fruits can also help keep you hydrated.

Change your daily routine to avoid the hottest days. Plan outdoor walks in the early morning or late evening when the temperature is lower.

If you must go outside during peak heat hours, seek shade, wear a wide-brimmed hat, and apply sunscreen to protect yourself from the sun's rays. Avoid strenuous physical activity that can lead to overheating and exhaustion.

Apply a damp cloth or ice pack to pulse points such as the wrists, neck, and temples. Make a DIY air conditioner by placing an ice bowl in front of a fan to circulate air and create a cool breeze. Sleep on lightweight bedding and use a chilled pillow or cooling mattress to increase comfort throughout the night.
