Repeat the washing process several times if the burning sensation persists after the first wash.
If pepper residue has gotten under your nails and causes burning, use a soft toothbrush or a gentle sponge. Lather them with detergent and scrub gently under your nails.
After you've washed off the capsaicin, moisturize your skin with Aloe Vera gel.
If you've consumed too much hot pepper and feel a burning sensation in your mouth, try drinking cold milk. The fats in milk help neutralize the burning effect of the pepper oil and provide immediate, albeit temporary, relief.
If you don't have milk, sour cream or low-fat yogurt can also help.
