What happens in the human brain during death: scientists reveal shocking facts

For the first time in the world, Canadian scientists have recorded a person's brain activity during death, which has provided new knowledge about possible last thoughts before passing away.
It is reported by LADbible.
The study was conducted on an 87-year-old patient who suffered from epilepsy and unexpectedly died of a heart attack. During electroencephalography (EEG), significant changes in brain activity were recorded 30 seconds before and after cardiac arrest. In particular, there was an increase in "gamma oscillations" associated with dreams and memories. This may indicate that a person is experiencing important episodes from the past in the last moments of life, confirming the theory of "flashbacks."
Dr. Ajmal Zemmar, who led the study, suggested that the findings could not only change our understanding of the process of death, but also affect the question of the best time for organ transplantation. Despite the fact that the conclusions are based on a single case, scientists believe it is necessary to continue experiments to confirm these data.

Previously, similar changes have been observed in rats during the death process, but this is the first time they have been recorded in humans. However, experts are not sure whether these processes are typical for all people, as the results could be affected by brain damage caused by the patient's epilepsy. Nevertheless, the study opens up new possibilities for understanding what happens in the brain at the time of death.
Scientists also suggest that even after cardiac arrest, the brain is able to activate the most vivid memories, which provides new insights into near-death experiences. This study not only answers the question about the phenomenon of "flashbacks" but also opens up new horizons in the study of human consciousness on the verge of life and death.
