A recipe for baked buns from the royal family
Every year, a recipe for traditional buns is posted on the royal family's page. They must be poured with syrup and decorated with cross-shaped patterns.
Easter buns have been baked in the Windsor family for hundreds of years and served to the royal table. Traditionally, they are eaten on Good Friday.
According to legend, in the 14th century, a monk of St. Albans Abbey baked such buns and distributed them to the needy.

To prepare royal buns, you need:
- Eggs - 2 pcs.
– Fresh yeast – 25 gr.
- 375 gr. coarse flour
- 2 st. l. sugar
– 60 g of butter, cut into cubes and cooled
- 130 ml. water
- A large pinch of salt
- Candied fruit - 2 tbsp. l.
- Raisins - 2 tbsp. l.
– Cinnamon and cardamom or spices to taste
Mixture for patterns:
- 4th-century l. flour
- 1 tbsp. l. sugar
- 1 tbsp. l. water
Syrup:
– 200 g of sugar
- 100 ml. water
How to knead the dough and bake buns:
- Dissolve the yeast in warm water. Sift the flour, salt, sugar, and spices into a large bowl.
- Make a well in the center of the mixture. Mix the yeast with the eggs and pour into the well. Knead the dough.
- Add sugar, and butter and mix for 5 minutes. Divide the dough into 13-15 buns.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment, lay out the buns, and leave for 30-45 minutes to let the buns rise.
- Take the decoration ingredients, mix them, and decorate the buns.
- Bake for 8-12 minutes at 220 degrees and brush with warm sugar syrup (dilute sugar in water for syrup)
