An experiment with a petri dish: The network showed what will happen if you walk at home in shoes
Dena O'Neill, known online as @dailydetailswithdena, conducted an interesting experiment aimed at determining the impact of wearing shoes in your own home, especially those models in which people move around in public places. For this experiment, Dena used Q-tips and petri dishes.

In her Instagram video, she started by cleaning the bottoms of her sneakers and then collected a sample from her powder room, as this is the only part of the house where shoes are allowed.
Dena noted that there is a debate among people about the appropriateness of wearing shoes at home, especially if they have been used in public places. She decided to conduct an experiment to find out the correct answer to this question.
For the experiment, Dena took two samples: the first was from the bottom of her sneakers (labeled "shoe bottom") and the second was from the floor of the restroom (labeled "mudroom floor"). She then left these samples in a "dark closet" for a week, leaving them to develop "in peace".
After a week, Dena checked the results of the experiment and was shocked to see yellow, gray, and white bacteria in the petri dishes.
Realizing that these results were indicative of impurities and dirt, Dena says she supports the "don't wear shoes at home" campaign. Her own experiment convinced her to take off her shoes when entering her own home.
Thus, the blogger emphasizes that public places, including parks and public toilets, contain many disgusting bacteria, so it is important to keep them out of your home.
For the sake of hygiene and cleanliness of her home, Dena provides guests with special shoe covers, and she wears her own shoes only outside. This prevents the spread of dirt and contamination in her home and saves time that could be spent cleaning the floors more often.
