Zelensky promised Ukrainians multiple citizenship: what is known
Zelensky plans to legalize multiple citizenship

The President of Ukraine has decided to allow Ukrainians to have multiple citizenships at once. On January 22, Volodymyr Zelenskyy will submit a bill to the parliament.

In his address on the occasion of Unity Day, the head of state emphasized that Ukrainians by origin "should become Ukrainians by passport at the legislative level."

"Today, I am introducing a key bill to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine that will allow us to adopt comprehensive changes to the legislation and introduce the institution of multiple citizenship," he said.

According to Zelenskyy, this will allow all ethnic Ukrainians and their descendants from countries other than Russia to have Ukrainian citizenship.

"All those who were forced to leave their homeland during various waves of emigration and ended up in Europe, the United States, Canada, Asia, and Latin America. All those who help us despite being hundreds and thousands of kilometers away from their native land. Foreign volunteers who have come to the defense of Ukraine, all those who are fighting for the freedom of Ukraine as their homeland. And Ukraine will become like that for them. For everyone who can feel that being in Ukraine means being at home. Not as tourists, but as citizens. A great, united Ukraine," the president summarized.

We would like to add that according to Article 4 of the Constitution of Ukraine, there is only one citizenship in Ukraine - Ukrainian.
