According to "Vseroste", in an apartment, apples are stored in the refrigerator or on the balcony. The fruits are placed in 1-2 kg in plastic bags without holes and put away for storage.

On the balcony or loggia, apples are stored in bags or in boxes. Wooden containers are pre-disinfected and covered with paper. To maintain moisture, containers with apples can be covered with hardwood sawdust, moss, buckwheat husks.

It is noted that apples should be placed with the stalks up or down.

If you have a basement or cellar for storage, apples can be fresh until spring. You can store the fruit in boxes or in bags.

To preserve apples in the garden, you need to dig a hole up to half a meter deep, put spruce branches (pine, spruce, fir branches) on the bottom. Apples are placed on top in bags or boxes with sawdust. They are covered with spruce branches on all sides to protect the fruit from mice. Then the pit is covered with earth.

If you want apples to keep longer, store them separately from other fruits and vegetables. Because apples give off ethylene, a gas that accelerates the ripening of other fruits and vegetables, they should not be stored next to foods such as pears, plums, grapes, potatoes, carrots, and onions.
