During archaeological excavations near the city of Dieppe in northern France, students made a sensational discovery: in a clay vessel, they found a glass vial with a note written by an archaeologist more than two centuries ago.

The author of the message, P. J. Fere, a famous archaeologist of his time, conducted excavations at this site in 1825. In his message, he spoke about his research and left his descendants with evidence of the past, Artnet reports .

The vial found in the clay pot also contained two coins. Archaeologist Guillaume Blondel, who is leading the current excavations, called the find magical and touching. However, he said the site is of great historical importance, but is currently under threat from coastal erosion.

The excavations are funded by the French National Regional Archaeological Service. According to Blondel, the team continues to work on the site, searching for new artifacts and preserving the historical heritage.

Pierre-Jacques Féret made a significant contribution to the study of the area, creating some of the first accurate maps of the area. His work helped confirm that there was once a fortified Gallic city here, which was later used by the Romans.

As a reminder, a 7,600-year-old child's skeleton was found in Turkey with a silver jewelry piece lying next to it.
