Vinegar and baking soda: how to get rid of ants in the house

If you see small guests in your home, you should immediately take measures to combat them, because they multiply very quickly and cause discomfort.

First, find the ants' nest. To do this, put something tasty on the table. After a while, you will see many ants coming out to eat, then look carefully at where they are going - that's where the nest will be.

First, you need to destroy the nest, because the queen lives there, which quickly increases the population of ants. Therefore, it makes no sense to fight them point by point. Usually, ants choose places with a high level of humidity - behind the mutt in the kitchen, near the sink, under the baseboards, or behind the tiles in the bathroom.

Folk remedies for ant control

If you have small children or pets in your home, it is not safe to use chemicals against ants. Therefore, we advise you to pay attention to folk remedies.

Boric acid

Take sugar or something sweet, water, and boric acid, and mix. Spread the mixture in different places in the kitchen. When ants eat the bait, some of it will fall on them and they will bring it to the nest. Boric acid destroys the insect's digestive system, which leads to its death. If you want, you can replace the sweets with egg yolk.

Vinegar or ammonia

Take vinegar or ammonia and wipe all surfaces in the kitchen. The strong odor will make the insects lose their bearings and won't be able to find their way to the nest. You can use pure vinegar or ammonia, or dilute it with water and spray it with a spray bottle. Remember to wear a mask and take children and animals away from the area.

Plants

Ants do not like the smell of lavender, mint, chamomile, and bay leaf. Pour these herbs into bags and spread them around the apartment. Lemon peel also has a good effect.

Garlic and hot peppers

Rub garlic on all surfaces in the apartment. The strong smell scares ants away and they will go looking for another home. The procedure must be repeated several times because the smell of garlic quickly disappears. Alternatively, you can use hot pepper - sprinkle it next to the nest.

Baking soda

Mix baking soda, something sweet, and water. When the ant eats the treat, the soda will react with the acid in the ant's stomach and lead to death.
