Lawn care is important throughout the year. This will keep the lawn lush and prevent stains.

However, yellow and brown spots can appear on the lawn as a result of improper care in the summer. This is caused by four common mistakes, Express.co.uk writes.

The first reason for the spots is cutting the grass too short. This can lead to scalping of the lawn and other problems.

Do not cut the grass too short to keep your lawn and garden looking healthy in winter and summer. Mow your lawn once or twice every two weeks during the summer months, making sure it is dry before mowing.

The second problem is improper fertilization of the lawn. It is important not to feed the grass too much, as it can cause damage by causing "yellow and brown" spots.

You also need to water your lawn regularly to keep it from drying out. The best way is to water with a sprinkler.

It is best to avoid mowing your lawn during the day when the sun is at its highest and hottest point during the summer months. This can put the grass under a lot of pressure that it may not be able to handle, so be sure to mow it in the morning or evening.
