What plants should be planted in August: gardener's calendar
August is the last summer month when planting of vegetable crops and many other plants is practically not carried out, but still some gardeners, especially from the southern regions of the country, go for such experiments. In addition, shrubs and perennial flowers can be planted in the last summer month.
Is it possible to plant vegetables in August
Gardeners sometimes plant some vegetable crops in late summer. Usually, these are early ripening plant varieties with a short growing season, which can already produce a crop 30-40 days before the first frost.
These plants include lettuce, spinach, arugula, early ripening varieties of white cabbage or Chinese cabbage, and radishes. Sometimes it is possible to grow a crop of small young beets before the onset of cold weather.

If you have a properly equipped greenhouse, you can plant other vegetables in August. Vegetable crops should be planted according to the lunar calendar, strictly following its recommendations.
Inauspicious days for planting vegetables are August 2, 26, 27, and 28.
In August, you can plant some types of shrubs with a closed root system. The most suitable crops for planting in August include currant, cranberry, mulberry, dogwood, juniper, and lilac seedlings.
For the plant to take root better, you should prepare it 3-4 weeks before planting by adding fertilizer to the soil. Plants are planted in a place protected from drafts, so they will be more comfortable during the cold season.
The shrub is planted according to the lunar calendar. Favorable days in August are the following: from 5 to 14, from 17 to 19, and on August 29, 30, and 31.
The unfavorable days for planting are August 12, 26, 27, and 28.

Is it possible to plant flowers in August
In the last month of summer, perennial and bulbous flowers are planted, which can please with their flowering on the site next summer.
Such perennial flowers as lilies, irises, hyacinths, phloxes, delphiniums, peonies, forget-me-nots, daffodils, and many others tolerate planting in late summer.
The most favorable days in August for planting perennial flowers are: August 5, 6, 9, 10, 13, 14, 30, and 31.
