How to choose a quality wine: top 6 tips
The taste of wine depends on many factors

To choose a quality wine, you should pay attention to several factors. UaPortal will tell you what exactly we are talking about.

Type of wine

Choose wine for the dishes that will be on the table

Red wine goes well with meat, while white wine is best served with fish and seafood. Dry sparkling or rosé wines are suitable for any dish.

Price.

Good wine does not cost less than 300 hryvnias per bottle. If the price is less, the bottle is probably counterfeit. However. you shouldn't buy too expensive wine either, as only sommeliers can appreciate their taste.

Wine color

The drink should not have sediment and be cloudy. Take into account that white wines darken over time, while red wines lighten. If a red wine is one year old and brown, don't buy it.

The age of the wine

It is best to buy wine that is at least 1-3 years old. The older the red wine, the richer its flavor. Speaking of white wine, it should be young. The older the white wine, the sharper its flavor.

Sugar content

Medium-sweet wines contain 5-18 grams of sugar per liter, while semi-sweet wines contain 18-45 grams of sugar per liter. Dessert wines have a sugar content of 100 g/l or more.

Cork and label

The label should be flat and smooth, free of external defects. Bottles of young wine have a screw cap. If it is older, the cork will be made of natural materials.
