Researchers explain whether almonds really help you lose weight
Nuts are rich in protein, which is why many people who want to lose weight avoid them. However, recent studies indicate that almonds help with weight loss.
In the largest study of its kind, researchers found that including almonds in a diet with limited energy intake not only helped people lose weight but also improved their cardiometabolic health. This is reported by SCITECHDAILY.
"Nuts, like almonds, are a great snack. They're high in protein, fiber, and vitamins and minerals, but they're also high in fat, which people may associate with weight gain," the researchers said.

In the study (funded by the Almond Board of California), 106 participants completed a nine-month nutrition program (a three-month energy-restricted diet for weight loss, followed by a six-month controlled energy intake diet for weight maintenance).
In both phases, 15% of the participants' energy intake consisted of whole unsalted almonds with the skin on (for the nut diet) or 15% of carbohydrate-rich snacks such as rice crackers or baked cereal bars (for the nut-free diet).
When studying the effects of energy-restricted diets supplemented with California almonds or carbohydrate-rich snacks, researchers found that both diets were successful in reducing body weight by about 7 kg.
