Zelensky on the possibility of negotiations with Putin: ''I'm not sure he's still alive''

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy considers it impossible to negotiate an end to the war with the Russian side. According to him, it is unclear "with whom and what to talk about".

During a video speech to the participants of the Ukrainian Breakfast in Davos on January 19, the head of state expressed "fears" that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is no longer alive. Therefore, he has no one to talk to.

"I don't understand with whom and what to talk about. I'm not sure that the Russian president who sometimes appears - TV viewers will understand - on chromakey, I don't quite understand that it is him. I don't fully understand that he is alive... I don't know who makes the decisions, what the circle of people is. When we say 'peace talks', I don't quite understand with whom. Russia has to find someone and then offer something," Zelenskyy said, according to the BBC.

The Ukrainian leader also believes that the Russian dictator will go down in history as the man who dug a huge gap between the peoples of Russia and Ukraine.

The Ukrainian leader also believes that the Russian dictator will go down in history as the man who dug a huge gap between the peoples of Russia and Ukraine.

"No one says that relations can be restored, but they can save the lives of their people. This is their future. The gap between us is deep, but they dug it. It is Putin who is standing with the shovel. And he will remain with this shovel in history," Zelenskyy added.

During his address to the forum participants, the President also reminded that Ukraine aims to return all its territories occupied by Russian militants.

"Our goal is to de-occupy our territories. Crimea is our land, our mountains and our sea. Give us your weapons and we will return ours," he added.

Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that negotiations with Russia would be resumed only after all the territories within the 1991 borders are returned. Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to the head of the Presidential Office, also said that the Kremlin was pressuring Ukrainian partners to convince Zelensky to hold talks with Russia on their terms.
